How Our Supervision Works
At True North Family Support Services, we provide professional supervision and support for families navigating custody and access arrangements. Visits are designed to be safe, structured, and focused on the child’s well-being.
Our services can be provided in a variety of settings to meet the unique needs of each family, including:
-
Designated supervision centers or offices – Neutral, structured spaces equipped for safe visits.
-
In-home visits – Conducted in a parent or guardian’s home when it is safe and appropriate.
-
Community spaces – Such as libraries or recreation facilities that are secure and neutral.
-
Outdoor or park settings – For children who benefit from active play in a supervised environment.
-
Therapeutic settings – Visits guided in collaboration with counselors or therapists when part of family therapy.
Your first visits will occur in public spaces like community centers, playgrounds, or entertainment venues. Our trained supervisor participates alongside you during the entire session—joining you at your table during meals, accompanying you in the pool, or watching nearby as you play together. This hands-on approach ensures continuous oversight while allowing natural family interaction.
When appropriate and based on our assessment, visits may later move to a private residence. Regardless of location, our supervisor maintains constant visual and auditory contact with the children throughout every moment of your time together.
Our trained supervisors focus on creating positive, supportive, and meaningful interactions, ensuring children feel safe and comfortable while visits meet court requirements. Each visit is tailored to the needs of the child and family, helping foster trust, connection, and peace of mind.
Safety Protocols
Our supervisors are authorized to conclude a session immediately if any concerning situations arise, including:
- Signs of substance impairment
- Actions or language that could negatively impact the child
- Any effort to evade supervision or remove the child from the designated area
After any interrupted session, we'll meet with you to discuss what happened and establish guidelines moving forward. Repeated safety concerns will result in the discontinuation of all future visitation.
Policies and Fees
Rate: Each supervised session is billed at $65.00 per hour. Payment must be received in advance through e-transfer to info@truenorthfamilysupportservices.ca or by credit card when you call (780) 937-2944. Cash payments are not accepted during visitation.
Venue Expenses: When activities require paid admission, the visiting parent covers entry fees for both themselves and the supervisor.
Scheduling: We block off dedicated time for each family, so cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations will incur the full session charge.
Emergency Contact: The primary caregiver needs to remain reachable by phone for the duration of every visit and be prepared to collect the child should early termination become necessary.
Session Records: Written observations from each visit are prepared and provided to both parents following the session when needed.
